Group Report ForDawn Patrol Online and Dawn Patrol Eighth Meeting – Jul 2023 – Online Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous

Group Report for Dawn Patrol Online and Dawn Patrol Eighth Meeting - Jul 2023

Group Information: Dawn Patrol Online (7 am EST daily) and Dawn Patrol Eighth Meeting (6 pm EST
Wed) are meetings that arose during Covid when the venue for homegroup closed. The daily Dawn
Patrol Online, once part of a currently meeting in-person group, is now an online only group based in
Newark, Delaware. We offer literature-based, open meetings welcoming all who wish to recover from
alcoholism. Dawn Patrol Online and Dawn Patrol Eighth Meeting separated from the in-person group at
the June 2023 meeting, as the in-person group no longer wanted an online component. Dawn Patrol
Online is organizing itself as a homegroup. It has registered as an online group with the GSO, has listed a
contact person in Area 12 Delaware, and will join the newly established online District 14 created by
Area 12 at its February 2023 assembly. It had shared a treasurer and GSR with the in-person
homegroup, has filled the treasurer position at an organizational meeting and is seeking a GSR to carry
its voice to the General Service Conference once a year. The business meeting will meet the first Sunday
of each month. The online meetings consist largely but not exclusively of beginners and passersby. It has
a membership of approximately twenty, with 20-30 people attending daily. Since our formation of
meetings on a virtual platform, members are achieving success in sobriety: finding sponsors, who take
them through the steps, and achieving one and two years of sobriety. They participate in meetings:
share their experience strength and hope! They pass it on. In addition, members stepping up to service
go through the traditions with a service sponsor. Increasingly, online is a group of regulars, from all over
the world, who are no longer strangers.

Actions – Challenges and Successes –

Success:

Dawn Patrol recently separated and is in the process of electing new service positions for the online
group. We do have an OIAA IG but still need an Alternate IG rep. We elected Jen T to the position of
treasurer. The group has a new OIAA IG however we still need an Alternate IG rep, and Literature &
Coins person. The on-line group will maintain the Cash App method of taking group contributions but
we are also looking at other means of collecting donations for individuals that may attend outside the
United States and the United Kingdom (Cash App isn’t available to some areas outside the US & UK).We
have added to the GSO Data base and we have a new group number (Dawn Patrol On Line Group # is
000473399). Per the New Group guidelines there is a 30-day pending period. We are currently in the 30-
day window. On June 17th OIAA had an Assembly which there was a significant amount of discussion
about changes with the Chairperson. Currently we have a new Chair for OIAA, Susan R and she will
maintain the position until elections come up in December. There are OIAA Tech Committee Meetings
coming up on July 3rd and July 17th. Additionally, the OIAA Communications Committee will hold their
monthly meeting on July 23, 2023.

Challenge:

With the recent separation from the in person group we are in the beginning stages of forming a new
group, and looking for a new GSR for the group. We are in the beginning stages of the new group but
have made significant progress as mentioned in the Successes listed above.

Challenge:

OIAA continues to have multiple Service Opportunities which are being announced at on-line meetings.
The opportunities are vast as this the online community continues to grow and is ever expanding.
Anyone interested in serving with the online AA community is encouraged to reach out to either Mike T
or Susan R.

Learning: “Zoom babies” continue with their success of staying sober one day at a time and celebrating
their sobriety. They are learning to be responsible. They have contributed to the group with their
service and are rotating out. We continue to have participation with new members that continue to get
involved in service positions to help the group in carrying the load of Zoom meetings.

Respectfully submitted, Mike T., Dawn Patrol Online and Dawn Patrol Eighth Meeting
