Group Report for Dawn Patrol On-Line - Jan 2024

OIAA Group Report
Group Name: Dawn Patrol Online and Dawn Patrol Eighth Meeting
Intergroup Representative: Mike T. Date: 5 January 2024
Group Information: Dawn Patrol Online (7 am EST daily) and Dawn Patrol Eighth Meeting (6 pm EST Wed) are meetings that arose during Covid when the venue for homegroup closed. The Daily Dawn Patrol Online is now an online only group based from Newark, Delaware. We offer a literature-based, open meetings welcoming both men and women. Online is a homegroup in it’s own right now. The group has an elected chair, secretary, treasurer and OIAA IG Rep. Currently we share GSR with the in-person Dawn Patrol but are seeking a new GSR for the online group (representing District 14, Area 12). The standing committee meets the first Sunday of each month for our business meetings. The group held elections this past month at the December 3rd Business Meeting. Online meetings consist largely but not exclusively of beginners and passersby. It has a membership of approximately twenty, with 15-30 people attending daily. Increasingly, online is a group of regulars, from all over the world, who are no longer strangers.

Actions – Challenges and Successes –
Success:
December 16th OIAA has an assembly meeting. Mark M., the Tech Chairperson introduced the “Zoom Spot Team” this has been established to keep the meeting safe and help with behind the scenes. It should be noted the successes of OIAA with 500 groups at the beginning of 2023 however as of December 16, 2023, there were an additional 143 groups added. This shows both the growth and success of OIAA. Jeff B., Secretary reviewed the minutes from Sept 16, 2023, Assembly which were approved. The meeting notes are posted on the OIAA website. For additional information on the Assembly meeting please find the Chair’s Report at OIAA Chair Report.
Success:
OIAA held elections during the December Assembly, and the 3rd Legacy Procedure were used in case there were ties with more than one candidate. Fortunately, there were no ties and we did not have multiple candidates running for the same positions. The election consisted of voting for Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Treasurer as described in Sub-Section 401 (A), (B), and (D) of OIAA Bi-laws.
• Susan R was elected to position of Chairperson,
• Nona C was elected to position of Vice-Chairperson, and
• Jennifer B was elected to position of Treasurer.
Per Section 302 of the Bi-laws the board expanded the bi-laws to include:
• International Trustee, and
• Trustee at Large.
Beth A from Paris, France was elected as the International Trustee and
o 92.6% voted for and 7.5% abstained (I abstained)
Buck R from Delaware, USA was elected as Trustee at Large.
o 90.9% voted for and 9.1% Abstained (I abstained)
Success:
Revenues were up some as 2023 progressed – there was an increase from both individual contributions and group contributions. The budget was reviewed for both 2023 and the proposed for 2024 were reviewed and posted on the OIAA Website.
Challenge:
One of the biggest challenges for OIAA is the multiple service positions that are available. OIAA has grown and more people are getting involved but there are openings for service positions to those interested. If individuals with Dawn Patrol are interested, they should reach out to Susan R. or Mike T.
Learning: “Zoom babies” continue with their success of staying sober one day at a time and celebrating their sobriety. There has been an increase in group members attending Tradition study after the Sunday Morning Big Book Meeting for those interested in service positions. They are learning to be responsible. They have contributed to the group with their service and are rotating out. We continue to have participation with new members that continue to get involved in service positions to help the group in carrying the load of Zoom meetings.
Respectfully submitted, Mike T., Dawn Patrol Online and Dawn
