Unity Liaison Meeting Minutes

  1. Opening

The Chair opened the meeting with the Declaration of Unity.
 Interpretation options (English/Spanish) were noted.

  1. Approval of Minutes (4 April 2026)
  • No amendments raised
  • Motion to approve minutes as a true reflection of the meeting
  • Second received by Joe R and Jeannette B

Result: Minutes approved

 

  1. Service Position Elections

Unity Committee Secretary

  • Jeannette presented AA service background and qualifications
  • Nomination seconded by Patty
  • Vote conducted among eligible members

 Result: Unanimous approval
  Jeannette elected as Unity Committee Secretary

  1. Open Service Positions

The following roles remain open:

  1. OIAA2026 Convention Chair (requires min 5 years sobriety)
  2. Unity Liaison Coordinator
  3. Marketing & Communications coordinator

7.1 OIAA 2026 Convention

  • Host group registration launched – deadline of 25 May 2026

  • Several submissions received

  • Registration includes automatic local time zone display for each day/session

 

7.2 Volunteer Flyer (Patty)

  • Flyer created for volunteer recruitment

  • Feedback:

    • Remove group registration reference

    • Keep focus on volunteers

7.3 Zoom Backgrounds (Jen H)

  • Branded backgrounds shared

  • Will be added to the Unity WhatsApp threads

  • Members encouraged to use during service

7.4 Unity Liaison Initiative (Jen H)

Purpose

  • Serve as a bridge between OIAA and listed online Groups

  • Focus on connection rather than authority

Outreach Process

Members agreed on the following approach:

  1. Select a meeting from the directory
  2. Attend as a regular member
  3. Participate naturally
  4. Share briefly if appropriate
  5. Offer OIAA resources/events
  6. Log interaction afterward

Outreach Guidance

  • Keep outreach informal and respectful
  • Do not force announcements
  • Use natural meeting opportunities (announcements, fellowship, before/after meeting)
  • Optional follow-up with IGRs or service members 

Tools & Suggestions (Jeannette)

  • Liaison tracking spreadsheet introduced and will be developed
  • Suggestion: create Google Form for easier logging
  • Suggestion: create one-page resource sheet with links for sharing

Clarifications

  • Directory does not clearly identify member groups
  • Chair to follow up with registrar
  • Overlapping outreach areas are acceptable as long as everything is logged and we can all see which groups have been contacted to avoid duplication.

  • Pato – South America (Spanish-speaking)
  • Jeff T – Europe/Africa (French Speaking), German, Dutch support

Additional Suggestions

  • Provide ready-to-share links in chat
  • Create one-page resource sheet 
  • Identify IGRs where possible
  • Consider attending business meetings when appropriate
