What We Do
The Policy & Admissions Committee (PAC) assists new groups in registering and listing their A.A. meetings on the OIAA meeting directory. Our responsibilities include:

• Reviewing new meeting submission forms for completeness and compliance with listing guidelines
• Ensuring new meetings retain a Traditions statement
• Assisting groups in listing their Intergroup Representatives (IGRs)
• Helping meetings regain listing or IGR status if they have lapsed
• Addressing concerns or complaints about listed meetings
• Offering policy and guideline advisories to any interested parties

During the first quarter of 2026 the Pac Committee continued to respond to meetings and groups which would like to be listed on our Meeting Directory. We vet each meeting carefully to ensure that it is an A.A. meeting and that it adheres to the 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. We currently have 6 members on our committee who are doing this work. Most requests receive a reply within 24 hours and groups that provide all of the required information usually are listed on the OIAA Meeting Directory within a week, frequently even sooner. Unfortunately, many groups do not provide the required information and never get listed. We do everything we can to assist the groups in providing the information we need, but some simply don’t respond to our requests.

At the start of this quarter the PAC Committee created a sub-committee, dedicated to assisting new Intergroup Representatives (IGRs) become familiar with OIAA and their responsibilities as IGRs. This sub-committee is chaired by Cam H. and has already held several meetings. They have named themselves the IGR Steppers and are in the process of deciding how they will assist the IGRs. At the present time they are planning to send an email to all current IGRs enlisting their help in providing one-on-one help to newly elected IGRs. Another email will also be sent to new IGRs offering assistance in helping them learn about their new positions. All of this is still in the planning stages, but PAC is very excited about the future progress of the IGR Steppers.

The PAC Committee has also been working on updating the Submit a New Meeting Form which is available on the OIAA Website. Our goal is to make it easier and clearer for meetings and groups to understand exactly what information we need before we can add them to the OIAA Meeting Directory. As soon as this work is finalized we will ask the Tech Committee to replace the current form with the new improved form.
