Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC)

Annual OIAA Committee Report

June 10th, 2024

In the first quarter of 2024 I joined CPC as Committee Chair. This committee was inactive for a while so it was like starting from scratch. I was a committee of 1.  I primarily respond to email for requests for CPC information. This provides an opportunity to see what people are looking for from CPC and gives a sense of what needs might be out there. I enjoy the correspondence requirements of the role very much although I am not as fast as I would like to be.

Sharon G contacted CPC in March expressing an interest in volunteering.  Sharon comes to OIAA with area and district experience in both general service and PI/CPC.  She has jumped into service and is now the Alternate Chairperson for the committee. I am very grateful to have another member on the committee.  While the work load is not heavy having an additional member provides opportunity for collaboration and a group conscience is formed as we work together.

The CPC Committee (Gwen & Sharon) started meeting in real time in April.  All are invited to join us.   The committee meets on the 4th Monday each month at 6:30 PM Eastern Time on the Zoom platform.  Zoom Meeting ID: 837 4412 9366 Passcode:  CPC

We’ve worked on a draft Committee Charter which outlines our Mission and Purpose.  We have more work to do on the charter and will do so as more is revealed.  Article 1 In OIAA’s Bylaws lays out four general provisions which guide OIAA’s purpose as “to assist online A.A. groups in their common purpose of carrying the A.A. message to the alcoholic who still suffers by: 1) Promoting unity among online A.A. groups in accordance with A.A.’s First Tradition, 2) Using the internet to carry the message of A.A. in accordance with A.A.’s Fifth Tradition, 3) Responding to the needs of online A.A, in accordance with A.A.’s Ninth Tradition, and 4) Providing a central source of information about online A.A. through a website, meeting directories, and the activities of its members in accordance with A.A.’s Eleventh Tradition.”   OIAA Bylaws, ARTICLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS, Section 1.01. Purpose.

As your CPC committee further refines the scope of our role we would like to understand what you need and what you think CPC can to do to serve you and your groups.  Does your group do any CPC service?  Would you like to?  Please let us know.

We appreciate hearing from you and if you have a question for CPC or would like to share ideas on how this committee may better serve your group please let us know using the contact us form on the OIAA website available here: https://aa-intergroup.org/contact/ or email CPC at cpc.chair@aa-intergroup.org.

Thank you for allowing us to be of service on OIAA’s CPC Committee!

Respectfully submitted,

Gwen M.

Sharon G.
