Opening

  • Jen opened the meeting with the Declaration of Unity.
  • Interpretation had not been requested for this meeting.
  • Members introduced themselves and their home groups.

OIAA2026 Convention Update – Jen H

    • Approximately 80 groups expressed interest in hosting convention sessions.
    • Host group selection is underway and reported to be approximately 90% complete.
    • Selection considerations include language diversity, specialty groups, geographic representation, topics, and opportunities for groups that have not previously hosted.
    • Host groups are expected to be notified in July.
  • Convention Planning Committee meeting scheduled for 25 June 2026 at 1:30 PM ET.
  • Several members expressed interest in participating.
  • Unity Tech Co-Host volunteers will be needed to support convention sessions.
  • Additional information regarding Unity Tech Co-Host opportunities will be shared as convention planning progresses.
  • Members interested in future Unity Tech Co-Host scheduling opportunities may contact Joe R, Unity Alt Chair, at alt.unity.chair@aa-intergroup.org

Question – Jean C: What does a Unity Tech Co-Host do?

Answer – Jen H: Unity Tech Co-Hosts provide technical support, meeting security, and assistance to host groups during convention sessions. There will be training sessions.

Unity Liaison Update – Jeannette B

Jeannette B provided an overview of Unity Liaison activities for the many new attendees present.

Topics Reviewed

  • Purpose of Unity Liaison visits, including sharing information about OIAA resources, events, workshops, and service opportunities.
  • Unity Liaison Visit Sheet and documenting visit outcomes.
  • Opportunities for participation in Unity service activities open to all willing members.

Unity Liaison Communication Channels

  • Unity Liaison WhatsApp Group
  • Unity Committee Email Distribution List

Members were informed that liaison resources, the Unity Liaison Visit Form and Visit Sheet, member group information, and other service materials are available through the Unity Liaison WhatsApp Group.

The Master Member Group/IGR List and related liaison resources are intended only for Unity Liaison service use and should remain within the authorized service channel.

Several members expressed interest in joining the email list, WhatsApp groups, and participating in liaison activities. Interested members will be added to the appropriate communication channels.

Question – Lurdes M: The Master Member Group/IGR List appears to contain groups without an active IGR or Alternate IGR, and some information may no longer be current. How should liaison members handle these situations?

Answer – Jeannette B: The topic had been discussed previously in another committee meeting, and ideas were being explored regarding how it might be handled.

Answer – Jen H: Groups may remain member groups without an active IGR. While liaison members may occasionally notice discrepancies during meeting visits, the primary purpose of liaison visits is to build connections and share information about OIAA resources and services.

Answer – Susan: Maintaining current group information is ultimately the responsibility of the individual group. Susan suggested this may be a worthwhile topic for discussion at a future Board meeting.

Unity Committee Membership – Jen H

  • Everyone is welcome to attend meetings and participate in discussions.
  • Voting eligibility begins after attending three full Unity Committee meetings.

Question – Lynn B: What if members cannot attend the 4 July meeting?

Answer – Jen H: The committee typically carries on when a meeting falls on a holiday. Members unable to attend may review the minutes afterward.

Upcoming Event’s

    • Next IGR Workshop ~ 19 July 2026 at 12:30pm ET
    • July Summer IGR Forum – Service Expo ~ Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 2 PM ET
    • OIAA2026 Online International Convention ~ 20-22 November 2026

Jen reported that committees will host breakout rooms during the Summer IGR Forum / Service Expo – providing members with an opportunity to learn about OIAA committees and service opportunities. 

Clarification – Susan: Participants may move freely between breakout rooms and are encouraged to visit multiple committees.
