Policy & Admissions Committee (PAC) Report July 2026

What We Do:
The Policy & Admissions Committee (PAC) assists new groups in registering and listing their A.A. meetings on the OIAA meeting directory. Our responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing new meeting submission forms for completeness and compliance with meeting directory listing guidelines.
  • Ensuring that new meetings/groups retain a Traditions statement.
  • Assisting new member groups in listing their Intergroup representatives at the time of registration.
  • Helping meetings/groups regain their status for relisting in the OIAA meeting directory or as Intergroup representatives if they have lapsed.
  • Addressing complaints and answering questions regarding meetings/groups listed in the OIAA meeting directory.
  • Providing policy and guideline advisories to any interested parties.

 

What we did: Committee actions from July 1 to July 31, 2026:

  • New meeting submission forms reviewed: 56
  • International meeting submission forms reviewed: 4
  • New meeting submission forms processed to listed completion: 19 (35%)
  • Meetings listed with an IGR: 0
  • Outstanding – waiting for reply:  15
  • Requested Removal: 1
  • Decided Not to List: 0
  • Declined listings: 4
  • Duplicates/Not a Lising/Update/Hold/Spam: 12
  • Sent to Steppers: 0

The PAC Committee added 2 new members (welcome, Ryann and Kristin) and 1 new IGR Stepper (welcome Kathy)!!! We are excited to have so many wonderful volunteers working on PAC. We held a full PAC Committee Meeting this month and a meeting with the Directory Team, to discuss ways that we can work together more effectively. At that meeting the PAC members were able to ask questions about the way the Directory team processes meeting requests for new meetings which we want to be added to the OIAA Meeting Directory. Then the Directory Team was able to provide some insight into their needs and how we can submit more accurate information to them. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to collaborate and work together more effectively and more efficiently.

While the number of new meeting requests we received this month was similar to last month’s, the number of submissions which were completed and actually ended up on our Meeting Directory was very high: 33%. We are delighted that we were able to process so many meetings to completion. We hope that the increase in completions is due, at least in part, to the updates which we have already made to the New Group Meeting Form. We will continue to monitor these numbers in the future. We also listed 4 meetings this month from groups located outside the US and Canada (Zimbabwe, Russia, Panama and Columbia). Some of our other meetings may also be based outside the US and Canada but frequently groups do not indicate the country in which they are geographically located. This is probably because online meetings are not geographically based so it is difficult to report these statistics.

PAC has a meeting scheduled very soon with Carol G., our new OIAA Communications Committee Chair. Carol has amazing skills and is planning to make more very positive changes to the New Group Meeting Form. We look forward to collaborating with her and we are excited about improving the New Group Meeting Form. Our goal is to make it so clear that groups understand immediately what information they need to submit. This will reduce the amount of time between the time the New Meeting Group Form is submitted and the time the Meeting is actually visible on our website in the OIAA Meeting Directory.

The IGR Steppers, chaired by PAC Vice Chair, Greg H., held a meeting this month to introduce their new member, Kathy, to the team. The IGR Steppers receives communication from our Registrar, informing them about newly listed IGRs and Alternate IGRs. The IGR Steppers immediately send an email to each of these individuals, offering to meet one-on-one with them to help familiarize them with OIAA, assist them in navigating our website and answer any questions. All IGRs are welcome to contact the IGR Steppers, to arrange a one-on-one meeting with one of them.
